Have recently had anew kilt made for my sons wedding.I took the tacking threads out months ago but on checking now I can see them still there. How do I get rid of them?
Thanks for any help given
Hi there-
I believe you're referring to basting threads. It actually becomes a pretty simple process once you get the hang of it. Take a tailors thread spliter. A thread spliter looks like a small, old fashioned can opener and is used to carefully slide under thread that is sewn onto fabric and as you slide under, the curved blade will cut the thread. Simple as that. Find the basting thread and remove it this way. Once you cut a couple of the threads, you should be able to easily start gently pulling them out on their own. Hope that helps-
